Leakages in Modern High Rise Building

Image
Modern High-Rise buildings have typical floor plates stacked one above the other. The location of wet rooms, viz toilets, kitchens, dry balconies are built around a central core with the passage in between and habitable spaces around it. In case of leakages in the ceiling of habitable spaces, the obvious link of source of the leakage is sought at the floor above. Typical ways of resolving leakage issues are by checking for pressure drops in water supply lines to ascertain leakage in the pipes and posting that to check for drain lines and floors. Conventional solutions involve breaking tiles- floor/wall or both as the situation demands, resolving pipe leakage if any, redoing waterproofing and finally relaying the tiles. In recent times it has been noticed that this system of leakage resolution gives temporary or no relief in certain cases. It is advised to break tiles only and only if all other options are ruled out and not as the first line of defence. Modern technologies assist ...

Terrace waterproofing of high rise in Mumbai

Modern Residential /Commercial or Industrial complexes have a large floor plate spanning over several wings , having expansion joint based on the length of the building. These when not properly taken care gives rise to leakages in the terrace . to single standalone buildings, multi-wing complexes have a rhythmic set of staircase and lift room blocks at regular intervals. It is combined with a series of services, like water supply inlet/outlet lines running around the core, i.e overhead water tanks. Presence of expansion/construction joints can lead to multiple leakages along the entire height of the building leading to façade leakages and podium leakages too. To add to the problem the wall surfaces within are not plastered . Later these areas are not accessible to identify the flow and pattern of leakages. Toilet duct open/semi-open or enclosed areas each have their own share of benefits and problems depending on the height of the building. Solar panels, wind mills and other ene...

Cracks in Building  Façade A wall serves basic two functions privacy and protection from harsh weather. The high rise buildings which in a city like Mumbai are exposed to heavy rains accompanied with harsh winds. These cracks can be vertical, horizontal or angular as it is shown in the video. These cracks are generally formed in the junction of the RCC member and block wall. Impact of the harsh weather combined with rains causes leakage in the internal surfaces of the building. There is always chances of cracks being formed at the junction of RCC cracks. Therefore it is necessary that care should be taken of joints and junctions. As the impact of the wind is high around the coast line, mere replastering will not solve the problem. Watch our video to see how these cracks are formed. We will be uploading the waterproofing solution soon in our next blog. Watch the video to know more https://youtu.be/r18toTf_WHo  24 views  0 clicks  Share post 

Many modern society complexes and apartment owners with terrace space have created wonderful green terrace gardens. However, water leakage issues can spoil the fun unless proper care is taken in the form of professional Terrace waterproofing . Most people think that brick bat coba is enough as a waterproof layer and a terrace garden can be created without a hitch. In fact, it is one of the weakest layers for terraces. Basically, roof construction should be based out of concrete grout and flexible waterproofing polymers. Membrane waterproofing is a powerful option and is finding a lot of favor amongst terrace garden owners and maintenance teams for buildings. Why Membrane Waterproofing? The lack of effective options and a wonderful track record of membrane waterproofing are the reasons why ...
